ABOUT THE EMBLEMS:

Faith in God:  Note - we are advised that the medal is no longer issued.  New requirements are at www.lds.org. We are told you should navigate to these requirements by going to gospel library, then curriculum, then primary, then Faith In God for Boys. The boys have to do seven goals that are marked in their booklets with a square knot symbol.

On My Honor: The On My Honor Award requires a Scout to be registered in an LDS Scouting unit for two years (one year may be as an eleven year old Scout in the Primary), to earn the rank of Star, and be determined worthy of the emblem in an annual interview with the bishop. A Scout must apply for the On My Honor Award before his nineteenth birthday.

On My Honor: This award is nominative by the presiding ward's bishop. To qualify for the On My Honor Award for adults, candidates must be at least twenty-one years of age, have registered and participated in a Church-sponsored Scouting unit, have completed the basic training for scout leaders, have served a minimum of three years in the Aaronic Priesthood or in Scouting in the Primary, demonstrate familiarity with the Aaronic Priesthood program or Primary Scouting program in an interview with the bishop and be worthy as shown in an interview with the bishop. Although the above requirements may sound simple enough, in the words of an LDS Scouter, "within the LDS Church 'being worthy' is a big catch-all" and generally means that a Scouter must have been exemplary in his service to both the church and Scouting for several years. Because members are "called" to a church position and are rotated from program to program, this means that those who choose a Scout related calling must usually perform this calling in addition to others, serving well beyond the normal expectations.

SCOUTING ASSOCIATIONS:

Within the National Capital Area Council, most District Commissioner Staffs have one or more Assistant District Commissioners for LDS units. In addition the LDS Committees on Scouting for three LDS Regions sponsor an annual encampment for LDS units from Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, and the Carolinas, similar to a regional camporee with over one thousand scouts in attendance.
